        serif"><font size="3"><span lang="en-US">The
            successful applicant will represent the area of Biochemistry
            /
            Molecular Cell Biology and should pursue a fundamental
            biological
            question that contributes to or complements current research
            areas at
            the BZH (<a href="http://www.bzh.uni-heidelberg.de/">http://www.bzh.uni-heidelberg.de/</a>)
            and can be integrated into existing or future research
            consortia.
            Research at the BZH includes the analysis / characterization
            of
            molecular machines, in particular their macromolecular
            biogenesis,
            structure and function. Major topics are dynamic
            intracellular
            transport processes, protein homeostasis, the assembly of
            RNA-protein
            complexes such as the ribosome, specific roles of lipids and
            lipid-protein interactions in biological membranes, and
            molecular
            switches. Candidates with expertise in cryo-electron
            microscopy are
            particularly encouraged to send an application as further
            development
            of cryo-EM based research is planned at the BZH. The
            candidate should
            be qualified and prepared to engage in teaching
            biochemistry/ cell
            biology to students of the Medical Faculty. Teaching
            language is
            German.</span></font></font></p>
    <p style="margin-left: 0.1in; margin-bottom: 0in"><font face="Arial,
        serif"><font size="3"><span lang="en-US">Prerequisites
            for the application are a Ph.D., M.D. or corresponding
            degree, a
            “Habilitation” or equivalent scientific qualification, more
            than
            one year experience in leading a research group, and a track
            record
            in securing third-party funding. Please refer to further
