The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology invite applications for two Tenure/Tenure-Track positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with research interests in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). Successful candidates should be expected to develop an independent extramurally funded research program using single-particle cryo-EM, CLEM, or tomography. The candidates will join an interactive group of investigators with expertise in x-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, NMR, and other biophysical approaches and will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, including a Titan Krios with K2 detector. The Penn State College of Medicine has recently opened a high performance computing data center capable of handling and processing big data. Candidates have the opportunity to collaborate with investigators in virology, immunology, receptor biology, and membrane protein structure and function. Successful candidates will participate in graduate and medical student education. Competitive start-up packages, recently renovated laboratory space, and strong core facilities, together provide an outstanding and collegial research environment. The Penn State College of Medicine is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a family oriented community with top-ranked schools and convenient access to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
