Dear all,

Following an Investigator Award from the Wellcome Trust, a CR-UK Programme Foundation Award and an EMBO Young Investigator Award, 3 Postdoctoral and 1 Higher Scientific Officer positions are available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Alessandro Vannini, Division of Structural Biology at The Institute of Cancer Research in London, UK (www.icr.ac.uk/alessandrovannini<http://www.icr.ac.uk/alessandrovannini>). We are looking for highly motivated and creative individuals with a strong interest in functional and structural characterization of large multi-subunit complexes. We currently integrate single particle electron microscopy analysis and X-ray crystallography with functional analysis in living cells, in order to uncover the role of the human RNA Polymerase III transcription apparatus in the spatial organization of the genome and in cancer.

In particular, we are seeking to recruit:

• 2 Postdoctoral Researchers with experience in single particle EM : Applicants should hold a PhD in biochemistry or related fields with experience in structural biology of multi- subunit complexes. Experience in single particle electron microscopy is essential for these posts and experience in protein production in insect cells (MultiBac) would be desirable. A background in structural biology of transcription and/or chromatin would be advantageous.

• A Postdoctoral Researcher with experience in cell biology: The candidate should hold a PhD in cell biology or related disciplines and should be familiar with multiple of the following techniques: functional genomics via next generation sequencing, genome editing with CRISPR, 3D cell culture and tissue culture/engineering. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work in close collaboration with a higher scientific officer and will be involved in a comprehensive research plan aimed at uncovering Brf2 role in cancer and exploit its therapeutic potential (Gouge et al., Cell 2015).

• A Higher Scientific Officer for production and biochemical characterization of recombinant multi- subunit complexes: The candidate should hold a PhD in biochemistry or related fields with demonstrated experience in cloning, expression and purification of recombinant proteins. Experience in protein biochemistry is essential for this post and experience in multi-subunit complex production in insect cells (MultiBac) and a background in structural biology would be desirable.

Appointments will be on Fixed Term Contract for 3 years in the first instance but extendable upon satisfactory performance, with a starting salary in the range of £29,517 to £38,134 p.a. inclusive (based on previous experience).
The Division of Structural Biology has managed facilities for protein crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy and protein production with expertise in multi-subunit expression (insect cell, yeast and bacterial expression), as well as mammalian tissue culture facilities. Additionally, access to EMBL core facilities will be possible. The Division of Structural Biology is located in Chelsea, a vibrant area in central London full of entertaining amenities.

CV and covering letter must be submitted online at
