Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor

The Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry and the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in the area of cryo-electron microscopy of biological macromolecules and assemblies.  The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on qualifications.  A Ph.D. or M.D. (or foreign equivalents), along with relevant postdoctoral experience, is required.

Candidates should be able to develop an independent research program utilizing state-of-the-art methods in single-particle cryo-electron microscopy or tomography.  The successful candidate will join an interactive group of investigators with expertise in x-ray crystallography, NMR, SAXS, and other biophysical approaches (http://biophysics.med.jhmi.edu).  The existing facilities for electron microscopy will be augmented by purchase of a state-of-the-art electron microscope, detector and sample changer suitable for single-particle studies.  The candidate will participate in graduate and MSTP programs and will contribute to the department’s graduate and medical student teaching programs.
