Dear all,
A post-doc position is available in the laboratory of Carsten Mim at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology/Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The position is funded for 2 years through a recent HFSP grant. The applicant will investigate the structure of an ion channel by either single particle electron microscopy or electron crystallography. The imaging will be either done at our local EM facility with a JEOL 2100 (and a direct electron detector) or at the a new state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility at the SciLife Lab, which is equipped with a FEI Titan Krios (with phase plates and a direct electron detector) as well as a FEI Talos. Our lab is also interested in the biochemical/biophysical properties of these samples as well. Therefore, the candidate should possess a PhD in Biochemistry (or a related field) and be familiar with the purification of membrane proteins. Experience in structural biology are of advantage for this position. The candidate should be self-motivated and bring good communication skills, because the project is part of a larger collaborative effort between different laboratories in- and outside of Sweden. The start date for this position is June 1st 2016 or later. Please include a CV and the email addresses of at least two references when contacting me at carsten.mim at sth.kth.se
