The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is recruiting a structural biologist whose high impact research program has the potential to exploit single particle cryo electron microscopy (cryo-EM) being established in the Advanced Microscopy Facility of the Bio21 Institute. The appointee with expertise in cryo EM (preferably) and/or crystallography will contribute to the continued development of this discipline and underpinning technologies at the University of Melbourne. The appointee will also have the opportunity to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs and academic administration in the Department and University.

The appointee will have the opportunity to collaborate in the multi-disciplinary research environment of the Bio21 Institute. The Department has existing and developing strengths in molecular cell biology, membrane biology, protein misfolding and neurological diseases, host-pathogen interactions, molecular immunology, computational and systems biology and signalling. Being located in Australia's largest and most prestigious biomedical precinct will also afford the appointee many collaborative opportunities with access to world-class facilities at the University and many adjacent research institutes.
