[3dem] odd CCD images

Hi,

Within the space of a couple of hours, our Gatan CCD camera (a fairly
old Ultrascan 890) went from taking good (normal) images to the sort of
image I have attached a piece of. I can supply the original dm3 file if
anyone thinks that would be useful, but it looks just like the piece I
here. The wiggly pattern you see in the attached image changes over
time and appears even without any illumination.

We have been in contact with Gatan and have tried a number of things
they have suggested, but nothing fixes this problem. We think we have
eliminated stray fields, loose connections of various sorts, a bad
firewire cable, etc. We think that it is a problem within the camera
itself and are in the process of setting up a service visit.

Has anyone ever seen this sort of problem with a Gatan CCD camera, and
if so, what was the solution? [other than buying a new camera...]

	Thanks.
