Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany seeks to fill a
Cryo-EM Facility Manager Position
The position is available immediately in the newly established Department of Structural Biochemistry (Director: Stefan Raunser). It is initially limited to 2 years, but can ultimately become permanent.
Job description: The Electron Microscopy Unit at the MPI Dortmund is currently undergoing an exciting period of upgrading and expansion. The candidate will be involved in the application of advanced electron microscopy technologies such as single particle electron cryo-microscopy and electron cryo tomography. The job responsibilities will include operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art electron microscopes, including a FEI Titan Krios and JEOL JEM 3200 FSC, and accessory equipment as well as computational data analysis.
Requirements: The candidate should have a degree in biological sciences, engineering, material sciences or a related field of science, training in the use and routine maintenance of electron microscopes, as well as expertise in specimen preparation techniques. Previous experience in cryo-EM and image processing would be an advantage. Strong oral communication skills in English are considered.
Payment: Payment depends on personal conditions and qualification according to the directive of TVöD. Social benefits correspond to those of the public service.
