A postdoctoral research position is available at the Department of
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Oregon Health and Science
University, Portland, Oregon.

The position will be jointly supervised by Dr. James Chen and Dr.
Show-Ling Shyng with the research themed on high-resolution EM imaging
and structural elucidation of membrane proteins, and the KATP ion
channel in particular. Our work is facilitated by the OHSU-FEI Living
Lab, which is equipped with a Titan Krios electron microscope
(including direct detectors and a phase-plate system), a Helios
DualBeam microscope, an integrated electron and light microscope
(Tecnai iCorr), super-resolution fluorescence microscopes, and other
accessory instruments. We also collaborate with Intel Corp. on
developing and utilizing advanced computing architectures for “big
data”, high-resolution EM data analysis.

Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. (or within three months of
graduation) in natural sciences are encouraged to apply. Preference
will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in protein
biochemistry, molecular biology and EM structural biology. Applicants
should send a cover letter describing research experience and
interests, a curriculum vitae, and the contact information of three
references to James Chen (chezh at ohsu.edu) and Show-Ling Shyng
(shyngs at ohsu.edu).

Regards,

James
