Dear All,

the Department of Structural Biology and Protein Chemistry at Genentech is
seeking a highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist (Technology) to
join our efforts to establish Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) within
Genentech Research. The successful candidate will be responsible for
setting up and maintaining a state-of-the-art Cryo-EM Laboratory. In this
role he/she will interact closely with other scientists as a collaborator,
project team member and scientific resource. In addition, the candidate
will also pursue research projects focused on exploring the structure and
molecular mechanism of proteins of therapeutic interest and participate in
drug discovery. Candidates must have experience in setting up a successful
Cryo-EM laboratory and be technical expert in high-resolution structure
determination using Cryo-EM single particle analysis.

Who You Are
The successful candidate will have many of the following characteristics:
PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline, at least 3
years of relevant postdoctoral/industry experience using Cryo-EM high
resolution TEM and single particle analysis. Experience with Cryo-EM
Tomography would represent a plus.
Proven record of establishment and operation of successful Cryo-EM
Laboratory. Experience in teaching and user training would be considered a
plus.
Outstanding record of productive and creative scientific accomplishments as
demonstrated by a strong publication record. Experience in informatics as
well as automation of data collection and processing workflows is a plus.
Have strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
