Hi All,
We are pleased to officially announce the 6th Biennial NCMI Workshop on Single particle reconstruction, Structural Variability and Modeling to be followed immediately by a 1 day Symposium on CryoEM, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the National Center for Macromolecular Imaging.

October 30 - November 2, 2015
and November 3, 2015

The two events are separate, so if you plan to attend both, please remember to register for both:

http://ncmi.bcm.edu/ncmi/events/workshops/workshops_146 <http://ncmi.bcm.edu/ncmi/events/workshops/workshops_146>

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, both events are completely free (including several meals) but you will be responsible for your own travel/lodging.

The workshop will begin on day 1 with introductory talks and a brand new EMAN2.11 tutorial. Days 2 and 3 will be devoted to the issue of both compositional and conformational heterogeneity, from multiple perspectives, examining the approaches used in 4 different software packages: Steve Ludtke (EMAN2.1), Sjors Scheres (Relion), Niko Grigorieff (Frealign) and Pawel Penczek (Sparx). While variability is often one of the greatest barriers to high resolution structure determination, it also represents a great opportunity to learn more about how complex macromolecular machines function in solution. The final day of the workshop will be devoted to modeling across all resolution ranges, from low resolution docking to de-novo model building at high resolution, using a variety of different software tools.

This workshop has been very popular in the past, so we encourage you to register as early as possible. There are a number of changes since our last workshop, so please read the details on the website(s) referenced above. Please address any questions to sludtke at bcm.edu <mailto:sludtke at bcm.edu> (workshop content and general questions) or Connie Wallace <cwallace at bcm.edu <mailto:cwallace at bcm.edu>> (questions about site, lodging, travel).
