Dear All,
We are delighted to announce two workshops on ‘Rapid specimen preparation and in-resin fluorescence preservation.'
The workshops will take place on the 8th and 9th October 2014 at the Electron Microscopy Unit - London Research Institute (CRUK) 44, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, WC2A 3LY - UK. http://www.london-research-institute.org.uk/about-lri/locations/lincolns-inn-fields
Each workshop will include detailed hands-on tutorials (only 2 participants in each of 4 groups) covering rapid freezing and embedding, and preservation of fluorescence in resin for integrated microscopy.

Programme:
 Day 1 (8th October) – ‘From cells to imaging with TEM in a single day’. Covering the entire rapid processing method developed by Kent McDonald from initial freezing with HPF (Leica EMPACT2 and HPM100), super-quick freeze substitution (SQFS), quick resin embedding and polymerization, ultrathin sectioning and TEM based imaging.
 Invited lecture (evening of day 1) : Prof Kent McDonald – Berkeley CA - USA (title TBC).
 Day 2 (9th October) – ‘Preserving fluorescence in resin: from cells to multimodal imaging with integrated light and electron microscopy platforms’ Covering the process from initial freezing with HPF (Leica EMPACT2 and HPM100), super-quick freeze substitution (SQFS), infiltration with resin, and analysis of pre-prepared specimens using the integrated SECOM (Delmic) and iCorr (FEI) platforms.

Registration:

·      Registration is limited to 8 participants per day;

·      Participants should apply by email  (Raffaella.carzaniga at cancer.org.uk<mailto:Raffaella.carzaniga at cancer.org.uk>)  - and specify if they would like to attend both days or only one of the two days;

·      no more than one person from an EM facility/group will be accepted;

· all applicants will be considered and acceptance will be based on a brief CV and a short explanation of how the applicant will apply the technologies from the workshop in their own project(s).

The registration is free and includes refreshments, but participants should support their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Registration deadline:

Please note that registration will close on Friday 19th September. We will confirm registration no later than Wednesday, 24th September 2014.

Venue:

Best wishes,
