Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the availability of several
PhD and Post-doc positions within a new Nanoscopy lab in Maastricht,
The Netherlands. The positions are available from September and are
for a maximum of 4 years.

Regards,

Raimond Ravelli

Job description: The research of the lab will focus on understanding
the molecular machinery involved in the pathogenicity of mycobacterium
species. It will develop and employ tools for the structural
characterization of large macromolecular complexes within their
cellular environment. Positions are available with accents on the
study of multimeric complexes, entire cells and organoids, correlative
light electron microscopy procedures, bioreactors, and the tomographic
analysis of samples exposed to different test compounds.

Lab description: The newly born Nanoscopy lab in Maastricht has a
state-of-the-art light and electron microscopy infrastructure counting
several microscopes among which a correlative cryo-electron microscopy
workflow consisting of a CorrSight, Scios DualBeam FIB/SEM, and an
Arctica F20 equipped with autoloader, latest generation direct
electron camera, and phase plate upgrade. The lab is located in the
Faculty Health Medicine and Life Science building next to the academic
hospital and is part of M4I – Maastricht for Imaging.

biophysics or related fields. Strong written and oral communication
skills as well as demonstrated affinity with high-end equipment and/or
computation are required. Is it strongly preferred to have experience
with one or more of the following techniques: single particle
cryo-microscopy, cryo-electron tomography, super-resolution
microscopy, correlative light electron microscopy, modelling, protein
expression and purification, macromolecular crystallography.

Candidates should be fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch is not required.

ESR Marie Curie PhD candidates should also have no more than 4 years
of research experience, and not have resided or worked in the
Netherlands for more than 12 months during the last 3 years.
