A post-doctoral position in high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy

A NIH-funded post-doctoral position is available at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston to study the molecular basis of cellular signaling and trafficking by employing high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy and single particle reconstructions to key regulatory molecules. The centerpiece of the EM facility is a FEI Polara (TF30) 300 kV cryo-electron microscope recently upgraded with a Gatan K2 Summit direct electron detector. Necessary support equipment is in place for protein production, purification and sample preparation, along with extensive computational facilities. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry or a related field and previous experience in structural biology is desirable but not essential.

The University of Texas Medical School at Houston is on the campus of the Texas Medical Center that has close ties with neighboring academic institutions such as Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University, and The University of Houston.

Applications, including a CV and statement of interest, should be sent electronically to: Dr. Neal Waxham (m.n.waxham at uth.tmc.edu), Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy and/or Dr. Pawel Penczek (Pawel.A.Penczek at uth.tmc.edu), Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Texas - Houston Medical School, Houston, TX.
