[3dem] Electron Microscopy Facility Assistant

Dear all,

We are looking to recruit an assistant for the running, maintenance and development of the electron microscopy facility at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK.

We will move into a new building in Feb 2013 where the electron microscopy facility will include five FEI microscopes, including a new 300 keV Titan Krios with two direct electron detectors and energy filter, a 300 keV Polara (also with a direct electron detector and energy filter) and three microscopes for sample preparation. Instrumentation for cryo sectioning and all other common sample preparation techniques is available.

Main duties involve interaction with and training of a local base of around thirty scientists, as well as the upkeep and maintenance of all microscopes in coordination with the facility manager. Furthermore, scientific collaborations and involvement in electron microscopy method development are highly encouraged.
