Dear Colleagues:

We hereby announce the release of SIMPLE 2.0. The common lines-based routines have been replaced
with a new probabilistic image alignment algorithm PRIME (Probabilistic Initial 3D Model Generation
for Single-Particle Cryo-Electron Microscopy) that was presented on the 3DEM Gordon conference. The
article is available at http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0969212613002505 and the
software can be downloaded at http://simple.stanford.edu/. The SIMPLE 2.0 distribution currently
contains the starting model generation procedure (PRIME), a clustering algorithm, and a bunch of
utility programs. Improved algorithms for heterogeneity analysis and refinement are underway.

Happy Processing!

Hans & Dominika
