Postdoctoral position in cryo-electron tomography at Texas Medical Center

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jun Liu at University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Our laboratory is interested in 3-D structure/function of molecular machines in living cells. Recently, we developed two model systems (Lyme disease spirochete and E. coli minicell) to study bacterial flagellar motor, chemotaxis machinery and bacteriophage infection by using high throughput cryo-electron tomography and subvolume analysis. Our research projects are currently funded by NIH/NIAID and Welch Foundation. Interested candidates should have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biophysics or a related field. UT Medical School at Houston is equipped with state-of-the art cryo-electron microscopy instruments, including a FEI Polara 300kv electron microscope with FEG and a 4kx4k CCD camera. As part of the Texas Medical Center, we have the unique opportunity to collaborate and interact with other academic components including Baylor College of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University, and Texas A&M Institute of Bioscience and Technology.
