A postdoctoral position is available in the Dan Southworth Lab at the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Research will be focused on understanding the structure and mechanism of eukaryotic molecular chaperones with an emphasis on cryo-EM structure determination of macromolecular complexes involved in cellular signaling, protein folding and protein quality control. Lab website: http://www.lsi.umich.edu/facultyresearch/labs/southworth

In addition to our well-equipped biochemistry lab we have full access to the cryo-EM suite at the LSI. The facility includes a Technai F20 (200 kV), T12 Spirit and Morgagni TEM microscopes, Gatan 4K x 4K CCD cameras and cryo-preparation equipment including a Vitrobot Mark IV. The LSI is a distinguished, multi-disciplinary research enterprise that opened in 1999 with the mission to accelerate scientific discovery through collaborative research environments. There are currently 28 faculty that span 14 departments along with state-of-the-art centers for Chemical Genomics, Structural Biology and Stem Cell Biology.

Applicants should hold a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics or related field. Experience in cryo-EM, biochemistry, protein crystallography or computational science is highly desirable. Interested candidates should send their CV to Dan Southworth: dsouth at umich.edu

The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
