[3dem] CCD retracted when emptying buffer tank

Hi Wim,

Thank you for clarifying. To elaborate my problem here, I notice the camera won't get retracted by buffer cycle while it is taking images, such as live view. But it will be retracted later once It is stopped. We also have Gatan Orius camera installed on the same image plane with Ultrascan, but it is controlled separately by a standalone computer.

Anyway, I got contacted by FEI-TSG regarding to this issue. Hopefully there will be a solution soon.

Our Krios runs 1.2.2, the Polara runs 4.4 (beta), the F30 runs 4.2 but it has an Eagle which is non-retractable. I checked things here: on the Krios and Polara, the retractable cameras are not retracted on buffer cycle. Both SerialEM and FEI tomography automatically insert the CCD when the camera is retracted and an acquisition is started.

Coming with it there is a unexpected 'feature' (according to FEI): The CCD camera is retracted when the emptying buffer tank start to run, but NOT reinserted afterwards. Such behaviour totally defeats any intention of running unsupervised automatic data collection, including FEI's own software. I am wondering if anyone else had similar experience and how to get around of it. Your help is appreciated.
