[3dem] grinding noise in the FEG beam valve

Dear all,
Recently there was some weak metal-grinding noise in the FEG beam valve
in our JEOL2200. The noise appears to be related to the increased
instability of the beam, which oscillates slightly more around its
central position. Our service team is not able to do anything other than
the replacement of the whole gun. I am curious if anyone else in this
list ever encountered a similar problem and did something different.
