AW: [3dem] HPF, options?

I think here is some confusion in the nomenclature of the HPF machines. The
Balzers machines are now sold from Leica. The old Balzers HPF is so called
HBM010. The new one is so called HBM100, which is as far as I understand the
HBF developed from Balzers and now sold from Leica. The HBM 100 works with
the technique of the old HBM010, were the pressure is given to a chamber.
Whereas in the Leica EmPact the pressure I given through a small hole
directly inside the planchet. A second large difference between EmPact and
HBM is the sample size. HBM is up to 6mm in diameter, sample thickness
approx. 150µm.

Hi David,

There is indeed the HPM100 from Leica but there is also the old HPM010 still
sold through some companies and there is also the Wohlwend machine available.
These are probably the cheapest around but less versatile. It all dpends what
you want to do.

Best,

Paul

Dear colleagues,

Our lab has the possibility to purchase a HPF but not enough money for EM
PACT2. I´m thinking about the HPM100 but have never seen it: anyone with this
equipment that could send me some feedback? Does it worth it? Are there any
other valuable options in the market?

Thanks a lot,
