[3dem] EM manager and research scientist position at NIBS

National Institution of Biological Sciences, Beijing (NIBS), is seeking a cryoEM expert for supervising the NIBS cryoEM facilities, training users and supporting researches.

NIBS (http://www.nibs.ac.cn/english/) was established to advance the frontier of basic research in the life sciences in China. Founded in 2003 as part of a strategic government initiative to further national development of science and technology, NIBS aims to become a first rate, internationally competitive research institution. NIBS introduced an HHMI-like funding strategy and research management system, which has been proven very powerful and efficient. NIBS cryoEM lab has established cellular electron tomography platform, the facilities including an FEI 120kV Tecnai spirit cryo-electron microscope with Gatan 4kx4k CCD, Vitrobot, cressington 208C carbon coater, two high pressure freezing machines (HPF-01 and Leica EMPACT2 with RTS), two Leica AFS2 freeze-substition machines, a Leica cryo-ultramicrotome UC7/FC7, an fluorescence light microscope with microinjection system for correlative LM/EM imaging, tissue culture system etc. We also planned to purchase a state-of-the-art 300kV cryoEM with advanced functions for cryoET and cryoEM applications in the near future.

This expert will mainly work on cryoEM related projects in Wanzhong He laboratory, and also provide training and support to users from other NIBS laboratories. This position will be supported by the institute and competitive salary will be offered. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. degree and several years of TEM experiences (ideally with cryoEM expertise). A strong communication skill, capable to work collaboratively, and a strong training/experience in electron microscopy are required. We also encourage TEM experts with physics or material sciences background to apply.
