Dear all,

Please find attached our announcement of a position now available for directorship of the Yale EM and Cryo-EM facility.  The director will work closely with faculty members of the Yale biological sciences community to further develop the capabilities of our facility, with particular emphasis on state-of-the-art tomographic and single-particle reconstruction techniques.  The facility has recently been reconfigured to enable remote automated data collection.  Current equipment includes: FEI Tecnai TF20 FEG (200kV TEM/ STEM with EDAX attachment) ; FEI Tecnai TF20 FEG (200kV Cryo-EM); FEI Tenai Biotwin 80-120kV TEM; FEI G2 Spirit; FEI Vitrobot.

A Director of Electron Microscopy is sought for the primary EM core at Yale University School of Medicine. The core provides faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and students from across the university with access to state‐of‐the‐art expertise and instrumentation for studies that require standard electron microscopy, cryoelectron microscopy, and tomography. The ideal candidate for Director will develop collaborative EM research with Yale laboratories, prioritizing these collaborations based on scientific feasibility and promise. Other duties include methods development and providing advice and assistance to a wide range of users, as well as to the skilled 4‐member staff who carry out routine work at the facility. The individual should be capable of multitasking and should enjoy working with other people. Good communication skills are essential. Ph.D. in biology, physics/materials science, or a related field and experience in electron microscopy and image processing are required.
