A postdoctoral position is available in my laboratory in the Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (MB&B) department at Yale University in New Haven, CT in the area of high-resolution structural and functional studies of cytoskeletal and DNA-based motor proteins. Techniques used will include cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, and other biophysical techniques as well as molecular dynamics modeling, with the goal of understanding how these enzymes work at the deepest structural and chemical level.

Strong abilities in the area of computation and image processing, and also cryo-EM sample preparation and data collection, will be essential for the projects. Prior experience with high-resolution structural techniques (cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography and/or NMR) is highly desirable.

Cryo-EM facilities available include two Tecnai cryo-electron microscopes: a 200kV FEG-equipped F20, and a 120kV T12 (see http://medicine.yale.edu/cellbio/ccmi/cryo_electron/instruments/index.aspx )

Generous support is also available for travel to outside facilities for very high-resolution data collection.

We are located in the Yale medical school, in the midst of a vibrant, diverse scientific community studying a broad range of biological and medical problems. Funding for the position is available starting immediately.
