We are happy to announce the 6th biennial NCMI Workshop on Single Particle Recosntruction, Validation and Analysis

March 14-17, 2011
Registration Deadline : January 15, 2011
http://ncmi.bcm.edu/ncmi/events/workshops/workshops_114

Speakers will include: Richard Henderson, Ed Egelman, Steve Ludtke, Pawel Penczek, and many more

This workshop focuses on single particle reconstruction and related techniques, including tutorials for a variety of different computational methods. A full EMAN2 tutorial will remain one central focus of the workshop, however we are expanding the content this year to cover a broader range of current topics, including :

* Single particle analysis
* Dynamics & Flexibility
* Map validation
* Modeling and structure interpretation
* Single particle tomography
* Iterative helical real space refinement (IHRSR)
* Visualization

The workshop will consist of theory talks each morning followed by a 1/2 day of tutorials, with a research talk before dinner each day. Tutorials will cover EMAN2, SPARX, Gorgon, Chimera, Rosetta and other tools. Note that many of these software packages are extremely flexible/complicated, so in many cases the tutorials will simply be initial introductions to the software in question. While the workshop will be suitable for beginners, some advanced topics will also be covered.

The workshop is free of charge, including a number of provided meals, but participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses. This is historically a very popular event, and space is limited, so please register early.
