[3dem] Research Technician Position

The National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy at the  
Scripps Research Institute has an opening for a Research Technician.   
The Research Technician will be responsible for providing technical  
support and training to users for cryo-electron microscopy and  the  
use of all the ancillary equipment required to prepare specimens,  
operate a transmission electron microscope, set up and monitor  
specialized software to control automated acquisition of images from  
the transmission electron microscope, and process the images to obtain  
3D maps.  In addition the Research Technician will be expected to be  
closely involved in the development of new technology at NRAMM,  
particularly in the area of new specimen preparation methods.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant scientific discipline or  
4-6 years related laboratory experience. Excellent hand-eye  
coordination, the ability to manipulate small devices and the ability  
to follow complex and exacting protocols. Good communication and inter  
personnel skills. Previous experience with cryoEM is preferred but  
training will be provided in all aspects of the position.
