A postdoctoral position is available from September 2006 in the Cheng
laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics at UCSF. The
research of the laboraotry is focused on structural analysis of
macromolecular assemblies by using various cryo-electron microscopy
techniques: single particle analysis, cryo-electron tomography and
electron crystallography. Areas of interest include structural studies
of coated vesicles and mechanism of gate opening in 20S proteasome.
Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics at UCSF is equipped with
state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy instruments, including a
Tecnai Polara with Gatan GIF energy filter and 4Kx4K CCD camera, a
Tecnai T20, a Tecnai T12 and a Vitrobot for cryo-specimen preparation.
Qualification include a Ph.D. degree and strong background in structural
