Sponsored by the National Center for Research Resources

Leginon Training Workshop
February 13-16, 2006
The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA

NRAMM will host a 4 day training workshop on the use of the Leginon System
for automated data collection for TEM. The purpose of the workshop is to
introduce the system to those groups who want to use Leginon on their own
instruments at their home institutions. The workshop will provide an
overview of the design and use of the system, provide instruction on
routine operations, and provide training and assistance in developing new
applications. The workshop will be restricted to a total of 4 groups with
up to 2 participants per group. Ideally, one of the participants will be an
application specialist who will be using Leginon for data collection and
the other participant will have the technical expertise to install and
support Leginon on the home institutions systems.

We will be requesting that each group brings with them to the workshop a
laptop running the Linux operating system (details will follow later). The
goal during the workshop will be to have each group install a fully
operational version of Leginon on their own laptop and test this system
using the microscopes and cameras at NRAMM. The system installed on the
laptop can then be used as a starting point for testing Leginon on the home
institutions microscopes.

There is no cost for attending the workshop and lunch will be provided each
day. Participants will be expected to cover their own travel and lodging
expenses. Course organizers will help to organize and coordinate lodging
arrangements.

To apply to attend the workshop, please send a brief email to Clint Potter
(cpotter at scripps.edu) stating that you would like to attend and providing
the names of the two participants who will attend from your group. Closing
date for applications will be December 15, 2005.
