A Professional Research Assistant position is available at the Boulder
Laboratory

for Three-Dimensional Electron Microscopy of Cells (BL3DEMC) at the
University
of Colorado at Boulder, CO. The work will focus on structural analysis of
biological
specimens, using three-dimensional imaging of frozen-hydrated specimens
(cryo-

electron tomography).
The successful candidate will be trained by highly experienced electron
microscopists

in techniques for rapid-freezing, electron tomography of ice-embedded
samples,

computational image processing and data interpretation. The employee will
pursue the

specific research aims of facility members and will interact with scientific
collaborators

from within our department and around the globe. The BL3DEMC
(http://bio3d.colorado.edu)

is a National Research Resource equipped with conventional transmission EMs
and two

new intermediate voltage TEMs. The TEM used for cryo-EM work is a state of
the art

FEI/Philips Tecnai F30-FEG with GATAN energy-filter.

Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited
university,

should enjoy working as part of an energetic team, and should be good at
multitasking.

Previous experience with electron microscopy and cryo-techniques is
preferred but not

essential. Salary will depend on experience ($30,000-35,000). Send CV,
