Postdoctoral Position Available at Birkbeck College

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for a highly motivated 
person to study the mechanism of DNA packaging and release during the 
phage life cycle by cryo transmission electron microscopy (cryoEM) and 
single particle analysis. The candidate will work on a 1.5-year, 
BBSRC-funded post in the research group of Dr. E.Orlova.

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in electron 
cryo-microscopy of biological samples. Knowledge of bacteriophage and 
virus organization would be an asset. You will join a cooperative team 
with good expertise in analysis of single molecules and helices.
 
The laboratory is equipped with Tecnai 10, 12, and F20 microscopes, an 
optical diffractometer, a Zeiss-SCAI densitometer, workstations running 
a variety of software packages for single particle and helical analysis, 
as well as good facilities for protein expression, purification and 
sample preparation. The department is well equipped for X-ray 
crystallography.

The salary level will be commensurate with experience.
