Dear Sir,

I am writing on behalf of the Biochemistry and Cell Biology (BCB) Division
within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Manchester in
the UK. We would like to add to our existing strengths by recruiting a
research expert in electron microscopy techniques who is interested in
pursuing his/her own research projects in addition to collaborating with
existing members of the School. The purpose of this letter is to bring to
your attention this opportunity with the hope that you or your colleagues
know a suitably qualified individual who might be interested in such a
position.

The School of Biological Scienecs is performing high quality research as
evidenced by frequent publications in high impact journals and the award of
a 5* ranking (the highest attainable) from the recent Research Assessment
Exercise. For more information please consult our website at
www.biomed.man.ac.uk. We have a highly interactive environment with many
groups sharing common research areas and publishing on joint papers. We
have a wealth of expertise in many areas including yeast genetics, protein
biochemistry, biophysical methods, and light microscopy. The School at
Manchester also has excellent EM facilities, including new microscopes and
associated equipment. We are looking to recruit individuals who utilise
both qualitative and quantitative methods including cryo-electron
microscopy to study cellular structures. We are particularly interested in
individuals working in the areas of protein targeting, membrane
trafficking, cell division, cytoskeleton and apoptosis but will consider EM
specialists working in any area of cell biology.

We would be open to considering suitable individuals on a variety of career
paths, including independent research fellowships to tenured academic
posts. The School supports new appointments by providing excellent
infrastructure, moderate teaching loads and a vigorous graduate programme.
Researchers interested in this opening are encouraged to contact me
directly using the contact details above. I will also be able to provide
further information should it be required.

I would be extremely grateful if you could pass this e-mail onto people who
you feel might be interested in this opportunity.

Yours sincerely,

Martin
