Dear all,

A three year HFSP-funded postdoc position is available at the MRC
Laboratory of Molecular Biology in the group of Jan Lowe. The main aim
will be to establish and perform electron tomography on frozen bacterial
cells. This work will be the central part of a larger project trying to
visualise bacterial cytoskeletal elements (FtsZ, MreB, ParM) and to
understand their role in cellular processes that are very poorly
understood. Our understanding of these systems is currently mainly limited
by the achievable resolution with light microscopy and GFP labelling
in cells that are only 1=B5m in diameter.=20
Previous experience with tomography is desired, but not absolutely
required. Dedication and the ability to work independently will be a great
advantage.
The MRC-LMB is a leading UK institution with a long and successful history
both in the fields of crystallography and electron microscopy situated in=
=20
Cambridge.
