We are still accepting applications for the tenure-track cryoEM postion at
BNL. A 200keV FEG TEM is on order with 2kx2k Tietz camera, Gatan cryo tilt
stage, and high resolution STEM attachment, to be used by the person filling
this position.

Cryo-Electron Microscopist - to solve macromolecular protein structures. The
Biology Department seeks an Assistant Scientist for a tenure-track
position, or
senior postdoc for later graduation to tenure track position, to establish a
new, independent research program for biological structures using
frozen-hydrated EM. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry or
biophysics
and postdoctoral experience related to protein structure analysis using
electron microscopy. Facilities available include a new 200 keV FEG TEM with
tilt-cryostage, and access to the STEM facility and National Synchrotron Light
Source. Successful candidates will be expect to work in collaboration with
other biologists within the Life Sciences Directorate and to participate in a
new created Center for Complex/Membrane Protein Structures. BNL is a
multidisciplinary laboratory engaged in basic and applied research and is
managed by Brookhaven Science Associates under contract with the Department of
Energy (DOE). BNL's Biology Department has strong programs in molecular
genetics, structural biology, genomics, and biotechnology and has a close
association with BNL's Medical Department and the Center for Imaging and
Neuroscience. The near by State University of New York at Stony Brook has
excellent graduate programs in many other areas of the life sciences. Further
information about the Biology Department and the Brookhaven National
Laboratory
is available at: www.bnl.gov.
Applicants should send a letter of interest, CV, and the names and contact
information to: Search Committee - CryoEM, Biology Department, Bldg. 463,
Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY 11973. BNL welcomes diversity and
encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
