Dear All

The Microscopy and Imaging Center (MIC) at Texas A&M University is pleased to announce a 2-day hands-on workshop on Artificial Intelligence–Based Computational Image Analysis, taking place on November 16 and 18, 2026, at the Student Computing Center, Texas A&M University. This intensive training is designed for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and core facility staff interested in incorporating modern AI, machine learning, and advanced volume-processing techniques into their structural biology, microscopy, and imaging workflows.

Key Topics

Participants will gain practical, step-by-step experience in:

  * AI-Based Image Analysis and 2D/3D Segmentation – Applying machine-learning approaches for automated segmentation and analysis of complex imaging datasets.
  *   Cryo-EM Tomography Reconstruction – Hands-on processing and reconstruction of cryo-electron tomography (Cryo-ET) datasets.
  * Cryo-FIB and Plasma-FIB Volume Reconstruction – Computational workflows for reconstructing and analyzing large-volume FIB datasets.

Hands-On Training

The workshop emphasizes practical, computer-based training, with dedicated computational resources and curated datasets provided for participants. Participants will work through imaging and reconstruction workflows using community-standard, open-source software and will receive practical scripts and documentation to support continued use of these approaches in their own research.
