[3dem] [EXTERNAL] Gatan model 626 specimen cryo holder

Hi Yael,

We had a campus machine shop successfully weld a new pin onto a 626 rod. With medium-to-light use, the replacement pin worked for years (over a decade?) until the lab closed.

If I recall, it involved a rig to hold the new pin in place and a laser welding instrument. I remember there was a risk of ruining the rod if the welder ended up melting a hole in it instead.

So, it can be done, but probably not for the faint of heart...

Best of luck!

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [3dem] Gatan model 626 specimen cryo holder

Hi All,

Does anyone sell a Gatan Model 626 cryo specimen holder in working condition?

In addition, the pin on our holder broke. Does anyone have experience repairing it or know whether it can be fixed?

Many thanks,

Yael
