Dear colleagues,

I am writing to advertise two fully funded PhD scholarship opportunities
within my laboratory at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia (

world’s most liveable cities and Monash is amongst the top 100 Universities
globally.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are keen to pioneer mass
spectrometry-based approaches in the context of cell biology and structural
biology, although motivated applicants with strong interests in any aspect
of the program are encouraged to apply.

Our research focuses on the molecular and structural mechanisms that govern
endo-lysosomal trafficking and function, with particular emphasis on how
nutrient sensing pathways regulate cell growth and homeostasis. This work
is pursued in close collaboration with the Ellisdon laboratory (

We take an integrative approach combining cryo-electron microscopy,
CRISPR-based genome engineering, fluorescence microscopy, and biochemical
and biophysical methods. Selected recent publications illustrating the
scope of our work include PMID: 39358511, 41512879, 39565846, 34887559.

The laboratory is embedded within a highly supportive research environment
at Monash University, with access to state-of-the-art infrastructure
including Titan Krios cryo-EM microscopes equipped with K3 and Falcon4
detectors, a 200 kV Arctica (Falcon 3), cryo-focused ion beam (cryo-PFIB)
facilities, and institutional platforms for flow cytometry, fluorescence
microscopy, mass spectrometry, and functional genomics.
