Dear Cryo-EM Community:
I am forwarding the following announcement on behalf of the K.H. Kuo Education Fund:
We seek nominations from the cryo-EM community for two awards to be presented at the 2026 Kuo Symposium on Cryo-EM in Beijing, August 21–25, 2026:

Awardees are expected to attend the Symposium to receive the award and present an invited lecture. Both awards are presented every two years at the Kuo Symposium on Cryo-EM.
K.H. Kuo Award for Distinguished Scientist in Biological Electron Microscopy
Recognizes a mid-career scientist (within 10 years of becoming an independent investigator) who has made outstanding contributions to biological electron microscopy, particularly, but not limited to, methodological developments in cryo-electron microscopy. The award includes a $2,000 cash prize and a certificate.
K.H. Kuo Award for Outstanding Young Scientist in Structural Biology
Recognizes an early-career scientist (within 6 years of receiving a Ph.D. or M.D.) who has made major contributions to structural biology through the development of cryo-EM methodology or its application to important biological questions. The award includes a $1,000 cash prize and a certificate.
Both awards are sponsored by the K.H. Kuo Education Fund, established in 1999 and registered in California as a nonprofit organization, to honor the scientific achievements of the late Professor K.H. Kuo:

Each nomination must be submitted by two co-nominators. The nomination package should include:
(1) a nomination letter and a supporting letter;
(2) the nominee’s CV, including publications and honors (≤5 pages); and
(3) a one-page description of the nominee’s scientific accomplishments.
Nomination materials should be addressed to the Kuo Award Committee and submitted by email no later than April 1, 2026, to Qiang Guo, Chair of the 2026 Kuo Symposium on Cryo-EM, at guo.qiang at pku.edu.cn<mailto:guo.qiang at pku.edu.cn>.
Attendance at the Kuo Symposium is required for awardees to receive the award.
