Dear all,
As we approach the 2026 Biophysical Society Annual Meeting in San Francisco, we need nominations for Cryo-EM Subgroup leadership positions. This is a great chance to become more involved with the Society and to support the Cryo-EM field.
This cycle, the Cryo-EM Subgroup will be electing the following positions (descriptions below):
1. Chair-Elect (Chair during the 2028 Annual Meeting in San Diego)
2. Faculty Program Co-Chairs (to organize the 2027 Philadelphia Symposium)
3. Postdoc Program Co-Chair (to organize the 2027 Philadelphia Symposium)
Nominations consist of name, institution, link to a professional bio (institutional directory, lab website, LinkedIn etc.) and a short candidate statement (max. 150 words).

If you are nominating somebody else, please confirm beforehand that they are willing to serve in that position if elected. Online ballots will be sent out to all Subgroup members in December through January.
Keep in mind that in order to be eligible for any Subgroup officer position, or to vote in the elections, you must be a current BPS member who has joined the Cryo-EM Subgroup for 2026.
Nominations are due by Monday November 17, 2025. Ballots will then be created and are usually sent out in early December.
Position Descriptions:
Chair & Chair-Elect: As chair, will organize and conduct the annual Subgroup meeting; apprising the Biophysical Society of the activities and needs of the Subgroup; advising the Society on matters related to the Subgroup; promoting and overseeing the Student Research Achievement Award (SRAA) competition; communicating with the Society concerning meeting plans and public communications (flyers, announcements, newsletter reports, etc.); and participating in activities that benefit the Subgroup and Society. Responsible for the Subgroup meeting all deadlines established by the Subgroup Manager and monitoring all efforts that contribute to the Subgroup Report Card.
Program Subcommittee: Will be responsible for assembling the scientific program for the Annual Subgroup Meeting, which will involve inviting and confirming speakers, setting the symposium program, finalizing symposium food & beverage and AV needs, and if applicable selecting flash talks from submitted abstracts.
