[3dem] Postdoc Position near Strasbourg

Our team at the IGBMC, near Strasbourg, France, offers a PostDoc position starting in early 2025 for initially 2.5 years.


The project will focus on the in situ (ultra-) structural description of large-scale intracellular transport machinery previously uncharacterized by cryo-ET.

This machinery contains different types of cytoskeleton and membranous compartments, providing ample opportunity for ultrastructural analysis, structure determination, and the development of new processing pipelines for both of these approaches.


We are looking for candidates fitting to the following profile:

-Ph.D. degree in structural biology or related field

-Experience in cryo-ET and STA workflows from specimen preparation (optimally including FIB/SEM and cryo-light microscopes) to data processing. Alternatively, comparable experience for SPA cryo-EM

-Capability to adapt existing processing pipelines by coding custom scripts

-Curiosity to engage with a new model system

-Proficiency in English


The successful candidate will have access to the Integrated Structural Biology platform at IGBMC (2 Titan Krios, 1 Glacios, 1 cryo-FIB/SEM, and a cryo-light microscope) and will be integrated into a young team hosted within a dedicated structural biology department.


Outside the lab, the Strasbourg region offers many cultural events, fast access to the Vosges and the Black Forrest for outdoor activities, and good connections to other European cities.

As is typical in France, child care is available from a very early age, and Strasbourg specifically boasts bi- and multilingual schools.
