Dear Colleagues,
a PhD position is available in the Roderer lab at the Leibniz Research Institute of Molecular Pharmacology (FMP) in Berlin, Germany. The candidate will apply cryo-EM/SPA as well as cryo-ET to understand the molecular mechanism of Fusobacterium nucleatum autotransporter adhesin binding to human target cells. Please also see a recent project-related preprint here: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.02.28.582045v1__;!!Mih3wA!AkZfSqIvLOtEruUtlkisjcVFOo8patXmQehODYEL5LdycY8nRjD_JGs3KK8bPRmwBm-CkOEQaA6uzWo2WEawHxAo$ .
We are looking for ambitious, highly motivated, and talented graduate students who are enthusiastic to perform research in a vibrant scientific environment. The applicants should be meticulous in their work, team players, and have the wish to excel in science. A master degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Physics, Chemistry or a related subject with excellent grades is required. Experience in structural biology (cryo-EM and single particle analysis or cryo-ET), scripting in Python, or protein biochemistry is advantageous.
The project is fully funded by the DFG and initially limited to 3 years, with the possibility for extension. The position is to be filled as soon as possible. Please combine all application documents (motivation letter, CV, bachelor & master degree, 1 page statement of research experience and interests, and the contact details of at least two references) into one pdf document and submit them latest until August 31th, 2024 to roderer at fmp-berlin.de.

Best regards,
