I would like to draw your attention to a job opportunity as an Image Analysis Specialist in Electron Microscopy in my team at the new EMBL Imaging Centre (EMBL IC) in Heidelberg. The successful applicant will be part of a team comprising microscopy engineers, application specialists and image analysists having the mission of highest-level user service provision and technology development in cryo-EM. Before the opening of the EMBL IC the successful candidate will collaborate with the existing EMBL cryo-EM platform, the EM facility and EMBL research groups to work on selected pilot projects.
 
You will be responsible for:
	• Analysis of cryo-EM data, including single-particle analysis, tomography, and correlative light and electron microscopy techniques.
	• Developing the software framework for new image acquisition and data analysis workflows tailored to the EMBL IC services, including setting up and maintaining on-the-fly processing pipelines.
	• Ensuring smooth running of the software architecture and computing infrastructure.
	• Introducing and assisting new users to data analysis workflows.
	• Staying up to date with the latest developments in image analysis methods and technologies.
	• Helping with the organisation and teaching of electron microscopy courses for the EMBL IC user community.

You have:
	• MSc or equivalent experience in the computer sciences, physics, engineering, life sciences or related disciplines.
	• Relevant experience in image analysis and software development.
	• Experience in machine learning.
	• Strong motivation to support and train users.
	• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
	• Fluency in English.

You might also have:
	• Experience in image processing techniques for structural biology.
	• Experience in cryo-EM and cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) data analysis.
	• Experience in database design and administration.
