An Australian NHMRC-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Wilson Wong at the Hudson Institute of Medical Research. The position will be funded initially for a 3 years period with the possibility for further extension.

The laboratory utilises single-particle cryo-EM and biochemical methods to investigate the structural biology of protein and protein-nucleic acid complexes that are central to genome maintenance and malaria parasite invasion.

The Hudson Institute is part of the Monash University, Monash Health and Translation Research Precinct in Melbourne, Australia with access to the Monash Titan Krios with K2/falcon3 detectors, a Talos Arctica with a falcon 3 detector at the Ramaciotti Centre for cryo-EM. We have further access to the Bio21 Titan Krios with a K3 detector and a Talos Artica with K2/falcon 3 detectors at the Ian Holmes Imaging Centre at the University of Melbourne. In addition, the Australian Synchrontron suited for X-ray protein crystallography is located in close proximity to Monash University.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in biology, chemistry, physics or computer science. Experience in protein expression and purification using insect cells or mammalian cells will be an advantage. Experience in cryo-EM sample preparation, image processing and model building and structure refinement is desired.
