Postdoctoral positions to study the Molecular Biophysics of Membrane
Transport
The Stokes laboratory in the Skirball Institute at New York University
School of Medicine in Manhattan is seeking two postdoctoral associates
to carry out NIH-funded structure/function studies of bacterial membrane
transporters. One project involves the ATP-dependent potassium
transporter, KdpFABC. The other project involves the Zn/H antiporter,
YiiP. For both projects, we employ cryo-EM to capture different
conformational states and in vitro assays of transport and substrate
binding to elucidate the transport process. Relevant skills include
site-directed mutagenesis, protein purification, membrane
reconstitution, biophysical analyses of function, and structure
determination by cryo-EM. A Ph.D. degree and experience in either
membrane protein biophysics or cryo-EM are required. Salary will be
commensurate with experience and the starting date is negotiable.
Candidates should send a curriculum vitae and names of 3 references to
David Stokes at stokes at nyu.edu.
