Two Wellcome Trust funded PDRAs to work on HIV-1 and host cell interactions,
specifically
1) Structural mechanisms of HIV-1 restriction by capsid-sensing host
proteins by cryoEM/ET
2) Correlative live-cell, cryoFIB/SEM and cryoET of HIV-1 infection

Zhang lab combines structural methodologies, in particular cryoEM and
cryoET, with biochemistry and functional studies, in conjunction with
molecular-dynamics simulations, to gain fundamental understanding of
biological processes. The Division of Structural Biology has excellent
facilities including state-of-the-art cryoEM (Krios and Glacios),
cryo-fluorescence microscopy and high-performance computing. We also have an
access to the UK national cryoEM center, eBIC, at the Diamond Light Source
https://www.diamond.ac.uk/Instruments/Biological-Cryo-Imaging/eBIC.html.
You must be highly motivated, hold a PhD in biophysics/structural biology or
equivalent, and have a demonstrated track record in conducting high quality
original research. Knowledge and experience in cryoEM/ET, protein
biochemistry, structural biology and/or live-cell fluorescence microscopy
(post #2) are essential.
Online application is open (closing date: 15-Nov-2018)
