*Freie Universität Berlin***intends to expand its Structural Biology
expertise with high-resolution cryo-EM methods. The FU Berlin Electron
Microscopy Research Center currently operates a 200 kV Talos Arctica,
equipped with a Falcon 3 direct electron detector and Talos L 120 TEM
entry level instrument. The acquisition of a high-end 300 kV microscope
is planned for the very near future. All microscopes are part of the
BioSupraMol Core Facility (BioSupraMol
<http://www.bcp.fu-berlin.de/en/chemie/chemie/service/biosupramol/index.html>)
which administrates large equipment in the Departments of Biology,
Chemistry, and Pharmacy. This high-resolution single-particle cryo-EM
initiative is a collaboration project with Prof. Markus Wahl (Structural
Biochemistry, FU Berlin). In this DFG-supported (German Science
Foundation) pilot project we are looking for a talented postdoctoral
research associate who supports us in establishing cryo-EM structure
analysis of large data sets.
*Job description:*
3D structure determination of cryo-EM data sets of Biological
Macromolecules and of supramolecular assemblies by single particle cryo-EM.
ProvidingExpert supportfor external users in: data processing; 3D
structure analysis, validation, archiving, and publication of the results
*Job requirements:*
Completed PhD degree in Chemistry / Biology / Biochemistry / Structural
Biology / Data Processing
*Professional experience*:
Documented experience in the single particle analysis of protein structures
*Desirable skills:*
General knowledge of Biochemistry, Bioinformatics and Structural Biology
A high level of personal motivation, independent thinking, team spirit
and the ability to work in a colourful interdisciplinary environment
Programming skills (C, Python, or any other programming language)
Fluency in written and spoken English
