Dear Colleagues,
The SouthEastern Consortium for Microscopy of MacroMolecular Machines
(SECM^4 ) at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida seeks an
expert electron microscopist with Titan Krios experience to assist with
consortium operations. The successful applicant's role will center
around day-to-day sample and visitor logistics, Titan operation, data
collection and management as well as data pre-processing, and software
maintenance as it pertains to data acquisition and preprocessing.
Coordinating skills are necessary because both Consortium and local
users utilize the same data collection and preprocessing pipelines as
well as immediate data storage. Some physical capability is needed in
order to move around tanks of compressed and liquified gases.
The ideal candidate would have a PhD degree, have excellent working
knowledge of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the collection
of Titan Krios direct electron detector data using the Leginon/Appion
system. They would also be highly mechanically, electronically, and
computationally inclined. Good communication and people skills are
essential. We may consider applicants with a lower terminal degree if
they have compensating experience. We will consider training someone
with partial qualifications, the right mind set, and commitment.
This is a regular, full-time position with a full benefit package
including health insurance.
FSU is an Equal Opportunity/Access/Affirmative Action/Pro Disabled &
Veteran Employer.
The position is not yet posted on-line but will appear in about a week.
