Faculty Positions for cryo-EM experts at Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) 

Two faculty (PI) positions are opened immediately at SIMM, which is located within the heart of Drug Valley in Zhang-Jiang Hi-Tech Park, Pu-Dong District, Shanghai, China. SIMM is one of the most premier institutes in the CAS system, focusing on drug discovery and development. Currently SIMM is establishing a state-of-art EM facility that includes Titian Krios with a K3/Bio-Quantum detector, Talos Artic with a Falcon III detector, and a Tenai Spirit for negative stain screening. This facility will be housed in a newly build 300 square meter laboratory that is coupled with high speed network and computation resources. 

We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D in cryo-EM who have deep knowledge of transmission electron microscopy and a track record of using cryo-EM to address fundamental problems in structural biology. Experience in electron diffraction, EM operation and maintenance will be a plus. Successful candidates are expected to establish a competitive independent research program tackling fundamental problems of biological research and drug discovery; and they will have opportunities to collaborate with a large community of investigators of X-ray crystallographers, medicinal chemists, biologists and pharmacologists at SIMM. Successful candidates for these two PI positions are also qualified to apply for the "Young Thousand Talents" program sponsored by SIMM.
