The Biological Science Imaging Resource (BSIR) at Florida State
University is seeking applications for the position of Facility Manager.
The position entails management of the facility, which maintains a
variety of TEMs, SEMs, light microscopes and specimen preparation
equipment. A full inventory can be seen at the facilities web site at
http://bsir.bio.fsu.edu/. The BSIR currently has one additional
employee. In additional to overall management of the facility, the
Facility Manager will have primary responsibility for day to day running
of the Titan-Krios electron microscope and secondary responsibility for
the other equipment, which will be the primary responsibility of the
other facility staff. The ideal candidate will have experience with the
operation of an FEI TF20 microscope or similar, data acquisition
software that runs on FEI microscopes (i.e. Leginon and Xplore3D), and
with high performance computing. Theincumbent is required to stay
abreast of and be able to incorporate future advances in data
acquisition software. Training of users is an important part of the work
load; additionally,it is anticipated that collaborators from outside of
FSU will become a significant part of the Titan-Krios user community and
the facility manager will be responsible for the success of their timely
data collection. Strong written and oral communication skills in English
are required.MS or Ph.D. degree preferred.
