Dear All,

Two post-doctoral positions are available within the Medical Research Council - University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR), working on cryo-electron tomography of viruses and virus infected cells:

The first position is an Investigator Scientist post, tasked with the development of computational methods for analysing tomograms of viruses and virus‐infected cells, working with Dr Frazer Rixon and myself. 
IS posts are senior post-doctoral positions suitable for experienced scientists with a good research track record, the contract is open-ended with opportunities for career progression. 
Starting salary for this Band 4 IS post will depend on postdoctoral experience and will be in the range £26,022 ‐ £31,758 per annum

The second position is a Career Development Fellow post applying cryo-EM and tomography to the study of Hepatitis C virus neutralisation and entry with Dr Arvind Patel and myself.
CDF posts are considered training posts and are suitable for early career scientists, i.e. newly qualified post-docs wishing to develop their expertise or more experienced scientists wishing to move into a new field of research.
Starting salary for this Band 4 CDF position will be in the range £26,022 ‐ £27,623 per annum

The CVR is well equipped for cryomicroscopy research, having a JEOL 2200FS cryomicroscope, FEI vitrobot, Leica EMPACT, AFS and cryomicrotome as well as a 216 core Linux cluster.
