Leica BAF 060 is the renamed legendary Balzers BAF 060. Since the BalzTec
(Balzers) was purchased by Leica two years ago, the same products, just a
repaint of the name label, price goes up 30 %. The market monopoly is really
a bad thing.
Although expensive, it is very robust. I have a 30 yrs old Balzers BAF 400,
predecessor of BAF 060, still usable.
It is a pity that Balzers became history. A small company located in the
picturesque Alps in Liechtenstein, friendly people and excellent customer
services.

Subject: [3dem] Freeze fracture apparatus
Hi all,
We are considering the purchase of a freeze fracture system (manly for the
preparation of replicas from brain, synaptosomes or cultured
cells).unfortunately the cost of the LEICA EM BAF060 is quite prohibitive.
Does someone know if there is a less expensive alternative?
How about the Cressington system CFE-60, has someone experience with it?
Thank you,
andrea
